National butterfly – symbol of Estonia
For the most part butterflies are treated well by people. Curious metamorphosis of small “warms” into butterflies, through a pupa resembling a mummy, into a winged and beautiful butterfly, made them a symbol of rebirth and immortality. In fact, a lot of cultures around the world connect their ancestors to butterflies. Butterflies were considered to be divine animals in which people’s and pets’ souls migrated after death. Butterflies are also considered to be animals-fortune-tellers. The time has arrived for the Estonian people to choose one beautiful butterfly as their symbol. Now the time has arrived for Estonia to choose one wonderful butterfly or moth as its symbol. You can vote until the end of 2017.
